Thor Opens This Week

This summer there will be a bunch of comic and fanboy movies being released.  This week kicks off them all off with Thor. When I first saw still pictures of the Thor movie I was a bit put off but after viewing the trailer I think it may actually turn out pretty good.

Kick-Ass Vol. 1

[amazon_link id="0785134352" target="_blank" ]Kick-Ass[/amazon_link]

I really enjoy Mark Millar’s writing.  He is able to take a simple idea and spin an entire story around it while taking his characters to the darkest of places and then elevating them back to happiness. Team Mark Millar up with the unique artwork of John Romita Jr. and fans are really in for a ride. Kick-Ass does just this in volume 1, collecting issue 1 through 8.

Dave Lizewski is a normal every day comic collecting geek trapped in high school. One day while reading a comic Dave asks himself and his friends later “Why hasn’t anyone tried dressing up in a costume and become a real life super-hero?”   Donning a scuba diving wet suit bought off Ebay Dave goes out on his first patrol and gets beat up so bad that he nearly dies, gets steel plates in his skull,  and spends months in rehabilitation.  This would be enough to stop most people from doing it again, but not Dave.  After he is all healed up he heads right back out and gets into another fight, this time to save a guy from getting beat up by a gang.  Dave still gets his ass kicked but manages to save the victim.  Some nearby onlooker managed to record the fight and post it to You-Tube, turning Dave into an over night sensation nick named Kick-Ass.  The story continues to follow Dave’s Peter Parker Style adventures as he uses MySpace to communicate with his fans and deal with copycat super-heroes along the way.

Invincible #76

The Viltrumite War continues!  It’s all been leading up to this: Invincible vs. Thragg, one-on-one! It’s the fight to end all fights, and the fate of the entire universe hangs in the balance.

What If Dark Reign

Before the events of Siege, long-time Avenger Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye) sought to take matters into his own hands and kill Norman Osborn himself. Why should a menace like Osborn be allowed the chance to live? Slay the monster, save the kingdom…right? The kill shot is just the beginning in this twisted tale of conspiracy and intrigue that takes Dark Reign to even blacker depths. What’s the worst that could happen? See for yourself in this one-shot. Plus, What If: The Venom Symbiote Possessed Deadpool – Part 1!

Thor Wolves North (One Shot)

Hela lays siege to Asgard, and demon hordes are loose on Earth. Weakened and alone, Thor must make a dangerous bargain with a mortal woman in order to launch a last assault on the forces of death and chaos – as his enemies were hoping he would. Valiant Vikings, grotesque goblins, and lascivious ladies-what more could any thunder god ask for?

Black Panther Man Without Fear #513

In the wake of Shadowland, there’s a new protector of Hell’s Kitchen! His name is T’Challa, and in the aftermath of Shadowland, he will create a new life, a new identity, and learn what it is to be a different kind of hero.  But with Daredevil gone, the bad guys are coming out to play, and a new nemesis–Vlad the Impaler–plots his bloody rise to power.

Wolverine #4

Demonically-possessed Wolverine vs. Colossus. What more do you need? All of this as Wolverine’s epic descent into hell rolls on.

Conan: Road of Kings #1

The pirate world is about to get 100 percent more savage as Conan and his crew of brigands ravage the seas in search of treasure and glory.
